You are reading 🏝The Little Island and the Hungry Dog, a children’s story by Charlie Shifflett told here on Substack in short, illustrated episodes. This week, I’m taking a short break from the story to share a silly cartoon featuring poor Marco.
In parallel with the planning and writing process for The Little Island and the Hungry Dog, I also create a lot of drawings and sketches that feature characters and scenery from the story.
This activity serves both as a creative exercise (each episode needs an illustration) and also as a way to unwind my mind from the day’s worries. Here is a cartoon that came out of a late-night drawing session. I hope it makes you smile! Thank you for reading!
