Welcome back to The Little Island🏝️, a clod of dirt in an imaginary ocean where I go to write songs, draw, and dream up wacky tales for my kids’ bedtime stories. In this edition, I continue the story of Little Bear, which I am publishing here on Substack in illustrated installments. If you missed the first six pages, you can catch up here.

In just a few minutes we will find out if you are right.
For now, though, we turn our attention to Little Bear, who has roused himself and made his way towards the big metal box that rolled into his backyard overnight.
Little Bear is drawn to the campers’ van because of the interesting smells wafting out of an open window.
You might know these yummy scents as coming from corn chips, cubes of sharp cheddar cheese, peanut butter crackers and (yes, good guess!) gummy bears.
But Little Bear had never, ever smelled such wondrous things before. Poor fella.
You have a way of telling the story that is so approachable. Brilliant.
